PP or also known as predictive processing is a study focused on perception and psychology in which some have related it towards creating art. It involves spatial awareness and reactions towards things including how we perceive art. Where this is happening is encoded within sections of the brain in specific cell types. Salamanders were used to show off they were capable of seeing perceptions, sensations, and even to visual aesthetics such as art. What was learned through here had further supported that PP might be the reason we feel so connected when looking at art pieces. It could also explain why some people have difficulties connecting to modern art. Proportions and spacing go deep into this. How you scale your work or how you place scenery or foreground in perspective to the viewer can say a lot. Having further scenery or closer objects can help envelope the viewer into the piece thus making PP activate emotional connection due to the spacing. This helps explain why older art seems to captivate so many of us emotionally. Even huge scaled scenery pieces make some impact. On the contrary, it helps reason why modern art that steers more to full abstract, simple shapes, or even a monotone background doesn't give us that same emotional impact. It's harder to see ourselves with it because spatial perception isn't as strong. All of this is more of a theory at this point but as we look further into more evidence, the theory slowly solidifies itself even further.
